Welcome again for another article specifically on DIY basement remodeling oriented! In today’s article I would like materials that I use on all my basement finishing projects.

Over the last 17 years I’ve tried and used many different kinds of building materials, putting together my basement remodeling projects. Some have great products and others …. already …. just sucked! I will quickly run my materials list that I use for my job, so you know what types of materials you need to get started in this order yourself.
We is a “natural progression job” in order from beginning to to do the project is completed. Let us get started!
1.) Wall studs shall be constructed of regular “2×4″ ‘s either order 8-9-10 “rivets, depending on your basement ceiling height, I use an air nail gun with 3-1/4″ framing nails for all my projects Framing loaded! If using hand nailing walls 16 cents gauge nails to bolt up and down plates.
2) Wall top and bottom plates. Bottom plates (the ones on the concrete floor) will be “treated wood.” Treated wood does not rot if concrete as regular “pine wood” is not exposed. I order the 2 “x4″ x16′-0 “treated timber for the floor slabs. The top panels (the ones I have on the bottom of the first floor bar of the existing house nail) I just make regular 2′x4″ x16 ” -0 “wood is the same as the wall studs.
3.) I use regular internal wiring for electrical outlets and light fixtures. 12-2 or 14-2 I buy standard gauge, 250 ‘rolls for this type of cabling. Use the “blue” nail-on “new” electrical boxes for outlets and switch boxes, wiring that you will.
